Animal Rideshare Forum

The Animal Rideshare forum is a way for members of the zoo community to coordinate transports with each other online. This forum is private and you must be logged-in to view and post, however it is open to anyone that works at a zoological institution, aquarium, conservation organization, etc. that is involved in the animal shipment process.

How it works:

Users post info about an animal shipment they are putting together, for example –

***1 Gibbon from Missouri to Arizona in early October*** and then add personal contact info (email, phone, etc.) and any other details into the message body.

Other zoo professionals can then comment/email the poster if they are interested in joining the shipment for a similar route and timeline.

Shipments can be made via any shipper or done in-house, it does not need to be with us! We simply want to make the entire process easier for everyone.

From time-to-time, we may also post a shipment route and time that is already scheduled to allow for add-on animals (birds, small mammals, etc.) if we have space. That allows for cost savings for both us and institutions. All institutions would need to agree well in advance for joint shipments so appropriate bio-security and health checks could be performed and reviewed.
